Norwood Netball Club is proud to announce the appointment of highly respected high-performance coach Michelle den Dekker OAM as Premier League Head Coach from the 2027 season.

Michelle brings an extraordinary depth of elite playing, coaching and leadership experience to Norwood.

A former Australian Diamonds captain, Michelle led Australia in a record 71 Test matches and achieved a remarkable 92 per cent winning record. She captained Australia to World Championship victories in 1991 and 1995 and remains one of the most successful and respected leaders in Australian netball history.

Following her distinguished playing career, Michelle continued to contribute at the highest levels of the sport. Her extensive coaching experience includes serving as Assistant Coach of the Australian Diamonds. Michelle is recognised for creating high-performance environments built on strong relationships, clear expectations, accountability and genuine care for the wellbeing and development of all players and staff.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the players and staff and continuing the work that former Head Coach and now Assistant Coach, Lee-Anne Cummins has built over the past 3 and a half seasons. I am excited to work with the executive of the club with a clear strategic direction — to make finals and win premierships,” Michelle said.

Norwood Netball Club is delighted to welcome a coach of Michelle’s experience, standing and proven leadership and looks forward to an exciting new chapter for its Premier League program.
